It would have been a great idea to have a Valentine's Day party next Saturday(Feb. 14th) to prepare for all the excitement of The Battle of Columbus taking place in March; but I guess it is a little late for that now. Either way good luck to everyone that is competing. Have fun and be safe!!

With all the excitement taking place at OMAC; it would have been a great idea to have a Valentines's Day party next saturday to prepare for the upcoming event in March the Battle of Columbus. It's a little late now, but it would have been a great way to have fun during this cold weather. Either way good luck to everyone who will be competing at the Arnold Martial Arts World Games IV. Have fun and be safe you guys!!!

Hello. I just wanted to thank you for your hard work and efforts spent on making the Winter Camp 2004. I truly enjoyed all that was presented and learned quite a lot. Your instructors are great. They are all very kind and patient with the students. That shows through! Once again thank you, and keep up the hard work. :)

OMAC members, It would be really nice if the photo album was updated with the pictures from the current promotion test and from anything else past the 18th of December. Also it would be really helpful if the school would be willing to inform students on how to become members that way we can log in and see the pictures at the members site, because I'm a student and I have not been able to access that page in any way possible. Congrats to everyone who tested and the Christmas Party was in my opinion was really good. However, next time there is a party let everyone know about it and make it a big deal. At the next party it would be nice to create a dance floor for some of the people who would like to dance and also allow people to bring in music of their own that way if there is a dance floor at the next party people can dance to something other than kiddie songs. Just a thougtht; anyways everything looks great on the website. BYE :)

Mr. & Mrs. Storey,

Thank you for the kind comments. Strong positive supports from parents are one of the key ingredients to make the Little tigers program succeed. We wish Austin to get the full benefits from our Little tigers program. We appreciate your continued supports.

Ohio Team Training for Competitors, Coaches & Referee was very successful again. Approximately 40 people were in attendance. WUMA (World United Martial Arts Alliance) leaders summit was held same time between 2-4pm and first hour was dedicated for mini business seminar. Sifu Jef Naayers were presenter of after school martial arts program. Everyone was impressed for seminar and they all reconfirmed that future of martial arts direction is after school program for the kids. Next Ohio team training and WUMA meeting is on August 24 (Sun). 12-4 pm training and 2-4 pm WUMA meeting. All OMAC members are encouraged to participate.

Instructor Matt Pasquinilli (Director, Asian Arts Center) has been requested to contribute articles to parenting magazines.

Here is link to one of his article, "Paying Attention" (link http://thechildwhisperer.com/pr01.htm ).

I found the article "Dealing with a Bully" is also an excellent article. (Link - http://thechildwhisperer.com/pr04.htm )

These articles are available on the website at the www.thechildwhisperer.com. -> Matt's writing section.

If you teach children, I strongly recommend to read these articles. I also recommend these articles to parents.

I want to share the following portion of an article with fellow martial artists...

Portion of the article written by Richard Kim on "Gichin Funakoshi (Creator of Shotokan Karate)" as appeared on "Black Belt for Kids" website:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"... Whenever Funakoshi's name is mentioned, it brings to mind the parable of "A Man of Tao and a Little Man." As it is told, a student once asked, "What is the difference between a man of Tao and a little man?" The master replies, "It is simple: When the little man receives his first dan (1st degree black belt), he can hardly wait to run home and tell everyone he made his first dan. Upon receiving his second dan, he will climb to the roof and shout to the people. Upon receiving his third dan, he will jump in his automobile and parade through town with its horn blowing, telling everyone about it."
The sensei continues: "When the man of Tao receives his first dan, he will bow his head in gratitude. Upon receiving his second dan, he will bow his head and his shoulders. Upon receiving his third dan, he will bow at the waist and quietly walk alongside the wall so people will not see him or notice him."
Funakoshi was a man of Tao. He placed no emphasis on competitions, record breaking or championships. Instead, he emphasized self-perfection. He believed in the common decency and respect that one human being owed another. He was the master of masters.
Funakoshi died in 1957 at the age of 88, after humbly making a tremendous contribution to the art of karate. " by Richard Kim.
OMAC has over 40 years of history. Over 25,000 members trained under the idea of tradition and innovation to improve one's self.
Let's remind our vision;  "Kids grow up happy and healthy, young become wise and strong, old enjoy peace and harmony."
We can accomplish this vision with Education, Training, Application and Teaching which is our mission.
Thank you all.
